Star Crossing QAL: More fabric inspiration!

It's almost time for week 2 of the Star Crossing QAL! Have you chosen your fabrics?

If you're still deciding which fabrics to use, or even if you haven't and just like seeing what everyone else is up to, here's some more inspiration.

Sharon Holland created a light and a dark version using her Spirited collection from Art Gallery Fabrics. She asked her IG followers to weigh in on which she should make. They're both gorgeous! (Followers chose the light version) Follow along as she makes the quilt here.

Star Crossing featuring Choose to Shine by Cherry Guidry for Benartex

One last one: I don't have a digital mock up because it's scrappy, but here are the fabrics I'm using for the Star Crossing version I'm making during the quilt along. I'm using the low volume prints for the background, the solids for the start points, and the stripe for the center square and middle border.  I can't wait to see how it comes together!

What fabrics will you choose?

Introducing Rhombi, featuring Playroom!

My pre-Christmas sewing wasn't totally holiday focused.
I got to play with these fun fabrics: from the Playroom collection by Mister Domestic for Art Gallery Fabrics. Aren't they sweet?

As I've mentioned before, there's not a lot of pink in my house, so it's always fun to sew with some!

The quilt I created using the Playroom prints (plus Pure Elements Solids) is a new pattern I'm launching based on a log cabin block (and it's currently on sale--scroll down for more info). It sews up super quickly and at 45" square, makes a perfect baby quilt.

I named it Rhombi--because a square is a rhombus and this quilt is full of squares on point (and yes, I had to double check the definition of rhombus--geometry was a long time ago!) One square = rhombus; multiple squares = rhombi!

Rhombi is featured in Art Gallery's Playroom lookbook.  Isn't the backing fabric adorable?!

A couple close-ups:

This alphabet print I used in the center is my favorite from the collection.

It's playtime!

This pattern is available as a downloadable PDF in my Etsy shop. Purchase it here. The pattern is 15% off through December 22nd, so grab your copy today!

Psst! Looking for more ideas for using Mister Domestic's Playroom collection? I'm hosting a quilt along in January 2020 featuring my Star Crossing quilt pattern.

NEW Pattern Release: On the Go

I'm excited to release my latest pattern, On the Go!
Purchase the pattern here.

The idea for this quilt has been in my floating around since last fall, when I first started playing with the design in Adobe Illustrator. The quilt has a lot of movement, but it's all from one simple block, made with only one seam. How's that for easy?

The pattern features instructions to make the quilt in two sizes; a 48" x 56" baby quilt and a 64" x 80" lap quilt.

This is the baby quilt size; it debuted in Art Gallery Fabrics' lookbook for Mister Domestic's new collection, Catch & Release. As soon as I saw all those fun blue and teal prints, I knew the line would work perfectly for this quilt.

I also sewed the lap size, using the Strata collection from Michael Miller. I love the texture of these blue, gray and beige prints! I think this version is destined to become my new couch snuggle quilt, but I might have to wrestle it from my boys, who all want it for their bed. We'll see who wins once it's quilted...

And an outtake. Sometimes it's hard to explain to your quilt corner holders that you don't actually want them to be visible in the photo!

On the Go is available as a digital download in my Etsy shop

Here's a peek at the yardage requirements as well. I included specific instructions for directional prints, as it changes the cutting slightly.

In case you missed it, find the tutorial for the Gone Fishin' Pouches, also made from Mister Domestic's Catch and Release fabrics, here.
